CHICAGO PHILIPPINE REPORTS TV ANNOUNCEMENT
The 32-year-old Chicago Philippine Reports TV (CPRTV) show airs every Sunday, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM.
CPRTV television broadcast is being carried by Chicago Cable 25 on WOW Cable, RCN Cable, and Comcast Cable throughout the city of Chicago and other neighboring suburbs. It claims a viewership of about 500,000.
CPRTV is sister company of 27-year-old VIA TIMES Newsmagazine, the oldest Filipino/Asian monthly newsmagazine in Chicago and suburbs.
VT/CPRTV is the only print/broadcast ethnic media in Chicago, owned by an ethnic Asian female..

PASS “CALENDAR MOMS” 2012
As each one of them were called to be presented to over 200 guests last
November 18, a resounding round of applause coming from the excited members of
their respective families and friends filled the huge ballroom of Four Points at
Sheraton Hotel for the Twelve Lovely “Calendar Moms” 2012! They were the gems of
the annual fundraiser of the Pilipino American Social Services (PASS), the only
501©(3) non-profit social services Center in the Filipino American community,
founded over two decades ago.
These ladies are hardworking professional Moms and wives and few Grandmas
who made their respective homes the “Home Sweet Home” for their children, as
well as their grandchildren. They were the mothers who continue to extend their
hand to charitable work as community leaders and members of various
organizations. And, oh, yes, they are Moms or Inay who love fun like dancing and
singing, their “anti-aging secrets.”
In the interest of space, in a few words, welcome PASS “CALENDAR MOMS” 2012
as follows:
KATHLEEN D. ELLIOTT, JANUARY: She hails from Siquijor, Negros Oriental;
finished her degree in Commerce from the world-reknown Silliman University in
Dumaguete City. A mother of four grown-up children, she takes pride in her job
as a Caregiver, saying “it is not easy but it gives me joy serving humanity.”
MARY ARLENE B. DOLERO, FEBRUARY: This young divorcee Mom of six children
from Pagadian City, Zamboanga, is indeed, a real survivor. A graduate of Public
Administration from Trinity College, she worked for 18 years in the Philippine
government and is a member of the Reservists Corps of the Phlippine Air Force.
In Chicago, she works as a caregiver; she is very proud of her job saying, “I am
making a difference in someone’s life.”
JOCELYN AGUILAR CABUNGCAL, MARCH: Very pretty with an outgoing personality,
Joy hails from Cebu City. She changed career when she came to Chicago and became
a Certified Care Practitioner. A mother of five children, Joy’s motto is:
“Failure is not an option and God’s delay is not God’s denial.” You can see Joy
in her smile.
ELLEN PANLAGUI TAN, APRIL: Born with a classic beauty in Calamba, Laguna,
Ellen was a movie star on Philippine cinema. She holds a degree in education and
has been married for 43 years to Emeraldo Tan. They have two children, Lean, a
nurse and Lindy, a computer information graduate. Ellen is very active in the
Fil-am community. She is a recipient of numerous awards, among them, Melvin
Jones from the Lions, International and from CPRTV-VT prestigious Chicago
Filipino American Hall of Fame.
MELANIE LARAWAN WOODWORTH, MAY, “MRS. CONGENTIALITY”: She is from Caliling,
Cauayan, Negros Occidental. She holds a degree in Business and Finance, and
Certificate in Social Services and Psychology from Olympic College in Washington
State. Currently, Melanie works as a Clinical Records manager for Respite Care
Co. She is outgoing, friendly, funny, and loves to help people.
JULIE CLAVEL CHAVEZ, JUNE: Kind-hearted, sweet and caring best describe
Julie, a native of Dagupan, Pangasinan. She and husband Ruben are blessed with
two children, Liza and Jonathan. Julie is involved in several community
organizations especially the Simbang Gabi. She feels honored as one of the PASS
“Calendar Moms” she considers her service to humanity. Julie vows to continue
helping the seniors in need.
EVELYN DE LA ROSA TOLLEDO, JULY: This bubbly and always smiling Mom of three
and married to Dr. Roberto Tolledo, hails from Catanduanes, Philippines. She has
a degree in Restaurant and Hotel Management, Music and Nursing. Currently,
Evelyn is president of the Bikol, USA. Her passion to help people especially the
seniors, inspired her to join PASS “Calendar Moms” more so to help the Center
raise the much-needed fund so it can continue to serve the seniors and the poor.
MINA C. MEDALLA, AUGUST: This teacher-turned big Business Woman hails from
Batangas. Before she became her own Boss, she worked for several years in the
Philippine government where she met her husband with whom she has five children,
now all professionals. Mina feels honored to be PASS Calendar Mom so she can
help the Center’s fundraiser.
DELITA TAGUD, SEPTEMBER: A native of Mindanao, Delita describes herself : “I
am a simple woman with simple dreams for my life.” Her “Gems” are her three
children—Crescente, Krudee and Crestan Darren. She works as a caregiver and is
proud of it.. Cognizant of the difficulties in her job, she pampers herself by
going shopping and dancing. It goes without saying that simple things bring the
greatest Joy.
ANGELINA LAYUG DE LEON FRANCISCO, OCTOBER, “MOST POPULAR CALENDAR MOM” :
Angie stands out in the Filipino American community as a businesswoman. She and
her late husband, Ben, were both known in this field. Born in Manila, she
finished her high school at the Assumption, an exclusive school for girls. She
finished accounting at the University of the East and passed the CPA exam in
1971. Today, Angie’s love is focused on her children, namely --Yvette, now
married with two beautiful babies: Faith and Grace; Allan and Mark (deceased).
Angie’s participation in PASS CALENDAR MOMS is in honor of Max Norte, Sr.,
executive director. “Max was one of our dearest family friends who gave me a
baby shower for my first child,” Angie said.
GINA DEL ROSARIO, NOVEMBER: Gina is a loving Mom to Stephanie, Fedrico,
and Teodora. Her parents are Federico and Teodora Garcia. She works as a biller
for Homebound Health Care and enjoys volunteering at Hospice, and other
non-profit organizations. She joined CALENDAR MOMS to help PASS. She loves to
sing, dance, and go bowling. Her motto: “Life does not have to be perfect to be
wonderful.”
SALVIC RAMIREZ SAAVEDRA, DECEMBER: A native of Dipolog, she placed ninth on
the Philippine Midwifery examination in 1983. Before coming to the States, she
worked as a Community Midwife in Dipolog City, hence, her experience in
community service made her a “shoulder to lean on” among for her family and
friends. Apples to her eyes are her grandchildren; she works hard to help them.
Salvic is one role Model Grandma.
As overall chair who worked closely with the CALENDAR MOMS, Jean Paredes
Tablizo, RN, wrote in her Message: “Dear Calendar Moms, your presence tonight
attests to your fine qualities as mothers and women of substance. You are the
source of pride to your families and to your respective communities.”
No Tribute to these Moms are more fitting than this....Philippine Consul
General Leo Herrera Lim, in his message, says in part: “A mother’s love is
unmatched. No one can replace the mother’s role in the life of her child…. I
applaud PASS for its mission towards creating better awareness for the Filipinos
in the Midwest… to showcase the Filipino heritage through its worthwhile
projects that benefit the community.”
Dr. Virgilio Jonson, PASS President and Chairman of the Board, in his
message says: … this annual event is primarly aimed at raising funds to provide
funding for the humanitarian programs of PASS, (which) sad to say, are
constantly are at risk of being terminated, due to the current adverse economic
condition. My deep gratitude for the generosity and untiring efforts of all the
officers and members. We do not want to let this happen and the deprive our
seniors, non-Filipino needy families of the services at PASS in spite of its
limited resources. Special mention to the tireless effort of Overall Chair Jean
Paredes Tablizo and her co-chairs Veronica Fertig and Yoly Zoleta, and to all
the volunteers (like Lisa Malana, RN; Lupe Galang, Dan Tagorda) who always mans
the Center, braving the weather. We sincerely thank Florence Nicol who is so
kind to be our benefactor. And the latest to offer, Mrs. Judy Agno. Thank so
much.”

Seniors who need some recreation, please join the “regulars” who play “Bingo” to
pass the time away. It is your “Home Away from Home” where you can celebrate
your birthdays with friends.”
The “GOLDEN HEART AWARD,” another PASS fundraiser, recognizing humanitarian
folks in the Fil-Am community, which is the brainchild of the late Max Norte,
Sr., are now looking for candidates. Anyone who has somebody in mind, please
contact Dr. Virgilio Jonson as soon as possible. Targeted date for the Awards
Night is this coming April. Dr. Jonson said.
From the CALENDAR MOMS 2012 and the officers and volunteers of PASS, here’s
